Technology in Schools
I for one prefer paper and textbooks over computers. Let's face it, they don't randomly shut down nor do they slow down when you have too many programs open. The sound of 30 kids tapping away on their own laptops would irritate me so I'm glad I was one of the last year groups to avoid the use of so much technology in school. I don't believe it is beneficial for each student, primary or high school, to have their own personal computer/laptop. I do believe that they should have access to a computer, preferably one at home and at school so they can learn how to use the internet and other basic programs such as word and power point but not as young as what I've heard about recently. Emily, the little girl on my Home Page picture was required to make a power point presentation at home as an assignment. To me she should still be learning how to write neater and spell. With Word's auto-correcting spell check children's spelling mistakes aren't getting picked up as easily or as frequently giving them little chance to actually learn. I believe that the best use for technology in classroom's is for fun, interacting and educational games as a subsitute for games like Heads Down Thumbs Up but definitely not as a substitute for physical activity and general classroom work.
