Typing Out Instructions
I still don't like relying on computers so much. When I was typing up my first lot of instructions for creating a SurveyMonkey account I was getting quite annoyed at how much time it took. I prefer handwriting instructions, particularly when they include diagrams, as the formatting is easier to do by hand. In my head I know how I would like the instructions to look but having to produce an electronic copy makes getting the layout correct really quite difficult. I found using the print screen button to take a photo of the screen a useful tool and putting the pictures onto a Word document was easy. The trouble came when I tried to draw circles and arrows as well as writing inside the arrows. I had to use a combination of Word and Paint to achieve the look I desired. The issue I have with technology taking more time is that my writing has always been neat so the end result is much the same, but when I write and draw by hand I take more pride in my work. A handwritten assignment also helps to prove that it is my work and not someone else's. I have considered writing my next lot of instructions by hand and then scanning them into the computer but until my laptop is connected to the printer at home (so I can print the screen shots) I will continue typing and trying to reduce the amount of time I spend mucking around with formatting.
