How to Create a Survey or Quiz Using SurveyMonkey

Now that you have created your SurveyMonkey account you are ready to start making surveys. If you haven't created your account you will need to do so before being able to use the instructions available on this page.

Again I have provide both a simple set of instructions (in the blue panel) and a link to a printable set of instructions (in the green panel) with more detailed step by step diagrams and explanations.

1. Log onto your SurveyMonkey account.

2. From your home page click on one of the green "Create Survey" icons.

3. Choose to either "Create a new survey" or use one of the forty premade, free templates (which you are able to edit too). For the former type the title for your survey and select the most suitable category. For the latter option select the category and a survey template to use. You can trial these template surveys by clicking on the "preview" icon on the right hand side of the web-page. Once you have completed all this click on the blue "Continue" icon at the bottom of the screen.

4.  Now you're ready to add questions and pages and alter the layout of your survey. Use each of the blue icons to take you to the relevant place. When adding questions you will need to provide a question and an answer section (for example you can choose multiple choice, a rating scale or a comment box).

5. When you have finished your survey questions you can use the tabs on the left hand side to change settings. One of these tabs even allows you to restore questions you have accidently deleted.  Then you are ready to preview and send (or publish) your survey. You will find icons to do this in the top right hand corner of the screen.

6. Once you have sent your survey you will be given a URL that you can use to share your survey. There are also handy tips that suggest ways of allowing others to access your survey. From here you can also set a date or data quota for the closure of your survey.

7. Congratulations, you have now created a survey. Make sure you take advantage of SurveyMonkey's automatic compiling of data and have asked others to take the time to fill in your survey.
